Passive Parts – Footprint Sizing Chart

For newcomers to the PCB Assembly Process, passive part size codes can be somewhat confusing, but Bittele is here to help clear things up. The electronics industry is an international operation, and as such we tend to use both the Metric and US Customary units of measurement, depending on the circumstance.

When you look for a passive part during the Component Selection stage of a project, you will normally see two different size codes listed in the part description. These codes correspond specifically to the length and width of the package in question; one describes the dimensions using Metric units, while the other uses US Customary units. At Bittele, we normally refer to the US Customary size code when we discuss a part, as this is the industry standard. As a local Canadian PCB Assembly provider, we are also quite comfortable working in Metric units, so simply let us know if you would prefer to speak about your parts in Metric.
