Tape and Reel Component Packaging

Electronic components for PCB Assembly come in all shapes and sizes. Beyond the physical attributes of the parts themselves, the packaging for those parts can have a significant impact on the PCB Assembly Process. At Bittele Electronics, we often receive questions from our clients about which type of packaging is required, or is best suited, for our production process. Luckily for you, we have developed our manufacturing strategies to be highly adaptable, so in all likelihood we can install your parts regardless of the packaging.

The most common packaging question we receive is from clients who plan to Consign Parts for a Prototype PCB Assembly or Low-Volume PCB Production run. These clients have often encountered other PCB Assembly houses in the past who will only work with Tape and Reel packaging, but purchasing a full reel for a prototype order seems excessive. At Bittele, we are happy to accommodate. We can work with Cut Tape packaging for passive parts, which refers to a segment of the tape that has been cut from the larger reel; we only recommend that you send a few extra components to cover any unexpected production loss. For larger Complex Parts such as BGA, QFP, QFN, SOIC, TSSOP, as well as connectors and other hardware, we can work with Bulk or Tray packaging, and production loss quantities are not normally required.

At Bittele, we offer our PCB Assembly Service in Canada, making it easy for clients across North America to send consigned parts to us directly. That being said, if you would prefer to avoid the added tasks of managing parts shipments and keeping track of production loss quantities, we highly recommend our Complete PCB Assembly services. When you choose this option, we handle every aspect of your PCB production, from start to finish; just send along your PCB Design Files, and we send back a fully assembled, thoroughly tested, high-quality PCB. Let our professional Parts Procurement team handle the nitty gritty details of your Bill of Materials (BOM), and rest easy in the knowledge that we will make sure everything goes according to plan. As an added bonus to our Complete PCB Assembly service, you also gain access to our factory stock of Free Passive Parts, making your parts management job even easier.
